Row by Row 2016

I won!   I finished my Row by Row quilt and was first to bring in a completed row quilt to Quilt Expressions in Fishers.   I made the rows on my sewing machine, but then pieced the rows together on my long arm quilter.  I so love that long arm!!!

I got 30 free fat quarters as my prize!

Latest bag..

This was a rare occasion when the hubby actually went into the fabric shop with me.  He insisted I buy the pattern for this bag.  The finished bag was bigger than I expected. I had fun making it. And like most my bags, it had a home with a friend within a week.

Charm pack baby quilt.

In April the Fat Quarter Shop started a subscription service of monthly sampler boxes (Http://www.fatquartershop.com/sew-sampler-quilting-subscription-box). I jumped on board. So far two boxes received and I am thrilled.  In the first box was included a charm pack of Moda fabric in the line from Me and My Sister designs (https://www.meandmysisterdesigns.com) called "Grow".

With a friend with a baby girl on the way (was born in May), I started the below baby quilt I just finished last night.

Our new baby K!

Our family (my niece) welcomed a new addition - little girl - "baby K".  I just finished up her quilt last night and will be getting it into the mail for her today with luck.  This is the first quilt I've put a label on the back - her name and DOB and "lovingly made by aunt....".  The label is probably too big, but I wanted it embroidered (not a permanent marker...) so went big to start.  I'll keep trying and learning.  There's got to be fonts on that big expensive machine that will look good and clear in smaller lettering.

First grand baby.,,,

A co-worker's first grandchild was born a little more than week ago - a girl.  I've been eyeing bibs like these on Pinterest for a little while so finally gave it a go.   Adorable if I do say so myself.

Not quite done, ....

I made this for my son!  In this picture, it's nearly complete-just needing the binding.  Hard to see in the picture, but the center panel, white background, the free motion quilting is musical symbols (notes, treble clef, etc) with meandering lines and loops traveling one to another.  My 6' 3" hubby is holding it up, so you can kind of see how big it is.

Race totes!!

A special request for four sisters who really love the Indy 500!  Predominately checkered, I worked in a few colors representing other race flags and lending to a personal touch for each sister, including their name embroidered inside one of the straps.

Here they are all ready for pickup!

Baby Lock Crown Jewel II

I finally did it - with more than a little encouragement from the hubby, I bought a long arm quilter with frame.  I did stop short of the robotics and software. The original plan is/was to upgrade to that a year or two, forcing me to learn how to use this from the ground up.  But I am having so much fun with it as is, I may just forget the robotics.  We'll see!

I've been practicing on scrapes and on the Row by Row Experience Quilt that's been sitting around two years now. This week I decided time to put it all together.  I purchased a "Layer Cake" of Moda fabric called ""Reel Time by Zen Chic". On Tuesday I pieced together this quilt top:
And a few days later, I quilted it with the Baby Lock Crown Jewel II - so much fun!  Look close enough and you'll see many "mistakes" but I'm a beginner and it's not going to any contest.  From a distance as a whole, I think it looks so cool. And incredibly in just a couple of days, I have a finished lap quilt.  That's so cool!
